55 years ago, the Stonewall Uprising began in New York City. Police raids and harassment were common but on June 28 members of the LGBTQ+ community fought back. The Stonewall Uprising sparked protests across the country about how the police treated the LGBTQ+ community and marked a turning point in the gay rights movement in the United States. We give special honor to the Stonewall veterans as we continue their work of creating safe, inclusive spaces for everyone in the LGBTQ+ community.
