OCIDA appreciates National Grid's sustained support of our efforts to make the White Pine Commerce Park a memory technology hub for Micron. National Grid's commitment to a reliable, clean energy grid was essential in attracting a major investment like Micron Technology's.

This past spring, a delegation from Onondaga County led by County Executive Ryan McMahon visited Taiwan to establish connections and gain insights into the Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem. We were warmly hosted by the Taiwanese and the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) during our stay. Today, we are pleased to share that we had the privilege of reciprocating this hospitality by welcoming an AIT-led delegation to Onondaga County. In our efforts to strengthen ties with Taiwan, we discussed investment opportunities and showcased key aspects of our community essential for the success of the Micron Technology project in Central New York. Situated just south of the Micron site, the White Pine Science & Technology Park (WPSTP) is poised to become a pivotal supply chain hub, supporting the extensive chip manufacturing operations and ensuring the efficient production and distribution of semiconductors from the Micron Technology plant. We extend our gratitude to Clint Brewer, Jason Chang, and the entire AIT delegation for their time and interest. We would also like to thank our local, state, and federal partners who participated in this incredibly special visit. OCIDA is thrilled to share insights from our recent trip to Taiwan, undertaken by County Executive Ryan McMahon and Executive Director Robert Petrovich, MBA. This venture was transformative in the wake of Micron Technology's arrival to Onondaga County. Our involvement at the Smart City Summit & Expo (SCSE) was essential in learning and connecting with key leaders in the industry. Attending this event allowed us to gain a better understanding of the journey our County is embarking on with Micron’s expansion. Engaging with key supply chain companies in Taiwan was instrumental in enhancing the support needed at the newly rebranded White Pine Science & Technology Park (WPSTP). The WPSTP is immediately south of the White Pine Commerce Park where Micron will be located. This interaction emphasizes our commitment to global partnerships, vital for our community’s economic and cultural prosperity. This week, County Executive Ryan McMahon and the OCIDA team continued to support the development of Micron’s $100B megafab in Clay, NY at #SEMI_ISS. Sumit Sadana, Executive Vice President and Chief Business Officer of Micron Technology was the Opening Keynote to start off the event. Throughout the week, we met with supply chain companies that will support Micron’s operations and invest in our community. This work is critical to establishing Central New York as North America’s Memory Manufacturing hub!
