Our 2023 Annual Report is here! Dive in for the latest stories of transformational change across 11 countries showing that #publicprocurement can be accountable, inclusive and sustainable: from supporting green procurement in Lithuania 🇱🇹 to better flood defenses in Assam, India 🇮🇳, fostering economic inclusion in the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴, and strengthening the reconstruction in Ukraine 🇺🇦 through DREAM (tag account), our efforts have led to real-world change. 2023 also marked the end of our last five-year strategy. We estimate that the reforms we supported positively impacted 209 million lives and US$116 billion dollars of public spending. We are proud of all we achieved together in 2023 as #TeamOCP, alongside our amazing #opencontracting community that continues to engage, fund, support, and inspire us. Thank you! This year, we embark on our journey towards strategy 2030 with the goal of enabling one billion people to live in more equitable, prosperous and sustainable communities by improving US$2 trillion in public procurement spending. Together, we can achieve this! We invite you to read all about open contracting in 2023 in our Annual Report:

We open up and transform public procurement to deliver fairer and better results for people, prosperity and the planet.
About us
Open Contracting Partnership aims to open up and transform public procurement to deliver fairer and better results for people, prosperity, and the planet. Our world runs on public contracts. One in three dollars spent by governments goes towards contracts with private companies to deliver public goods and services. It’s time to think different about public procurement and break open the trillions of dollars spent on contracts to unlock competition, innovation, and inclusion. We seek to bring together government, civil society and community organizations around improving procurement and open data. We create better value for money, fairer opportunities for business, and better results for people by helping ensure public money is spent openly, equitably, and effectively. We help our partners achieve measurable and lasting impact through locally-owned and inclusive public procurement reform. We support leaders from government, business, nonprofits, and journalists to co-design projects, and develop and implement open contracting strategies that work. We are proud to live in the regions that we serve. Our globally-distributed staff of approximately 29 people is based in thirteen countries across the Americas, Africa, Europe, and Asia.

"Public spending through procurement is an important lever for promoting the protection, restoration, and sustainable use of nature. By encouraging and incentivizing suppliers to deliver nature-positive outcomes, including through net-positive requirements, as part of their contracts, governments can encourage innovation while creating new markets for sustainable products and services and for nature-based solutions." Here are some use cases and resources for implementing #SustainableProcurement: https://lnkd.in/eNSHRGkW
It is heartening to see that strategic use of #publicprocurement to address #tripleplanetary crisis is finding more acceptance today than ever before. The Business for Nature coalition has endorsed a powerful business statement ahead of the UN Biodiversity #COP16, outlining 16 high-level policy recommendations for governments to accelerate the implementation of the #BiodiversityPlan and drive corporate #NatureAction. What stands out is the coalition's call for governments to take leadership and set robust nature requirements and adherence to the mitigation hierarchy into #PublicProcurement policies to reverse biodiversity losses. Leveraging government's spending through #publicprocurement to promote the protection, restoration, and sustainable use of nature has been a proven strategy globally. By incentivising suppliers to deliver nature-positive outcomes in public contracts, governments can spark innovation and create new markets for sustainable products, services, and nature-based solutions. This statement, endorsed by 130 businesses and financial institutions with combined revenues of $1.1 trillion, calling on governments to adopt #SustainableProcurement policies, marks a significant step forward in putting #SustainableProcurement at the heart of development policy. It's also natural to expect that businesses and financial institutions endorsing this statement will 'walk the talk' by integrating sustainability considerations into their own supply chains to enhance biodiversity outcomes. #Biodiversity #NaturePositive #SustainableDevelopment #Innovation #GreenEconomy #SustainableProcurement #NatureBasedSolutions #gpp #sustainability Elodie Maria-Sube Lunchakorn Prathumratana Zinaida Fadeeva Farid Yaker Carsten Hansen (Dr.) Jenny Chu Hua (Jenny) Xu, LLM, MBA, PLC, ESG, P.Log Marc Steiner Kuntheara TEP Md. Full paper below. The headlines are that e-GP is one of the best investments you can make to achieve the #SDGs. "Benefit-cost ratio of implementing an e-GP system in the average low-income country ranges from 8 to 58, and is 142 to 473 for a lower middle-income country". Full paper is here: https://lnkd.in/e9JNeN6V
According to the Copenhagen Consensus Center, a full e-government procurement system is a top 10 investment for a country to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Yet, one-third of countries do not have one in place. Slow, paper-based procurement processes often hinder effective procurement of e-GP systems. We can help you implement solutions with well-defined goals, user-centered teams, and a clear change management process. ⭐️ For Africa-specific advice, check out this guide: https://lnkd.in/dKrfdVnH ⭐️ For our full offer, learn more here: https://lnkd.in/dFeQhHe3 #OpenContracting #PublicProcurement #eGP #SustainableDevelopmentGoals #SDGs #Procurement #OpenGov #Digitization

It's been such a privilege working with CivicDataLab Gaurav G. Kabeer Arora Rakhi Kashyap Jeeno George, PhD Nupura Gawde Shreya Agrawal and all CDL team on this important topic 💓 With thanks to Deepali Khanna Eric Arndt and The Rockefeller Foundation for their incredible suppport which is helping us scale to additional states 💖 Watch this space, more coming soon 🙌
Residents of Assam, India, face immense hardship during the monsoon season due to flooding. Farms, livestock, and properties are destroyed, people are trapped in their homes without basic supplies, many have to wade through waist-deep water, and some sustain injuries. To help address this issue, we are supporting CivicDataLab (CDL), which is collaborating with the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) to enhance the protection of vulnerable communities from extreme weather events through intelligent, data-driven disaster management. By using a sophisticated data model, authorities can pinpoint the most critical areas in the state in need of investment, rating each district for flood proneness, preparedness, and losses. Last year, our efforts benefited about 6.5 million people. Thank you to Center for Public Sector AI, The Aspen Institute, and U.S. Digital Response for bringing together such a great group of folks from HHS and the field to explore how emerging technologies might help tackle some of our most sticky government service challenges! To really get the most benefits from this new tech, governments must radically overhaul how they buy things. That's why I was excited to speak about the role of procurement in this conversation on behalf of Open Contracting Partnership, together with fellow panelist Traci Walker, Executive Director at Digital Services Coalition. Our breakout panel had a full house and a lively conversation, and it was an honor to spot GSA's Administrator, Robin Carnahan, in the room. 🎊
