VidCon, founded in 2010 by YouTube veterans John and Hank Green (Vlogbrothers) and acquired by Paramount in 2018, has become the historic memory of the creator economy. ⭐ It’s no surprise that this year’s main theme was the creator economy’s “coming of age.” While some attendees opted for Cannes Lions over VidCon this year, the event still enjoyed a strong presence from creators, platforms, and brand executives. Beyond the rooftop networking events, platforms like YouTube and Instagram impressed attendees with their offsite activations. YouTube's all-star lounge featured exclusive swag and promoted their Partner Program, while the Instagram Café showcased cutting-edge AI tools and Meta's smart glasses. Although there was a slight dip in brand attendance, several top executives participated in insightful panels. A standout session brought together Kim Larson, YouTube’s Head of Creators, and Ian Trombetta, the NFL’s Head of Social, Influencer, and Content Marketing, alongside creator Adam (Adam W) Waheed. Additionally, Christian L. Tom, the White House’s Director of Digital Strategy, announced during a panel with newsmaker Jessica Yellin, that the White House will host a creator conference on August 14. LinkedIn's creator marketing was another highlight, underscoring the platform's expanding influence in the space. Discussions on AI were also prevalent, emphasizing its role in scaling production and enhancing creativity rather than replacing human talent. It's been an exciting year for creators, and we're looking forward to what’s next! cc: Jessica Tobey, Lenny Shteynberg, Goldie Chan #Vidcon #Vidcon2024 #creatormarketing #influencermarketing
