Christa Barfield’s transition from healthcare to farming has led to the creation of FarmerJawn, the nation's largest woman- and Black-owned urban farm dedicated to increasing access to nutritious food in Philadelphia. With financing and technical assistance from OFN member Foodshed Capital, FarmerJawn expanded to a 123-acre suburban farm, renovated a retail storefront, and increased CSA memberships.
