We are thrilled to partner with the Columbia River Maritime Museum on one of its most significant transformations since its opening in 1982. The new 24,500 sf Mariners Hall will expand the museum’s role in maritime culture, offering an immersive educational experience and attracting tourists, students, and researchers alike. Mariners Hall will be a hub for maritime education and exploration, featuring over 24 vessels, a suspended US Coast Guard helicopter, the Bulkhead—a 200-foot-long, two-level spine showcasing hundreds of maritime artifacts—the Boatworks, an all-ages STEAM learning lab, and outdoor connections to the museum’s campus. Our team has been partnered with Opsis in design of Central Washington University’s North Academic Complex (NAC) and GeoEco Plant since fall of 2022. The 108,000 SF NAC was designed to integrate several departments in an interdisciplinary, collaborative learning environment. An internal 4-story atrium, featuring daylight and cross-laminated timber, connects study spaces, classrooms and offices. The 242 seat lecture hall will support CWU in hosting both campus and community events. Our adjacent project, the GeoEco Plant and associated geothermal wells, will heat and cool the NAC and other campus facilities. The academic building is targeting LEED Gold, with cross-laminated timbers being sustainably sourced from the Yakama Tribes as a renewable resource! These, along with other sustainable features, will make a significant impact toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions on campus. We’re thrilled to be part of this project as it comes to life. Today, against the backdrop of Portland Community College's Rock Creek Farm, we celebrated the ribbon cutting of the new Rock Creek Barn! This new facility is demonstrative of PCC's commitment to workforce development, serving an important role for both the farm and the college's Veterinary Technology Program. Purposefully designed to seamlessly blend traditional study with hands-on learning, the barn boasts a classroom and resources for experiential training with the farm's diverse array of animals, including cattle, horses, sheep, and Tootsie the pony. Congratulations to PCC!

Excited to share that our team celebrated the University of Portland's new Shiley-Marcos Center for Design & Innovation at last Friday's dedication ceremony! The Shiley-Marcos Center for Design & Innovation serves as a hub for hands-on learning and discovery, fostering a new era of creativity and invention. Inspired by the building’s namesake, Donald P. Shiley, the Center features interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation spaces where students can connect, test ideas, and bring their inventions to life. Students from across the Engineering, Business, Arts, and Nursing programs collaborate to explore and share ideas in various spaces, including ideation, rapid prototyping, arts, capstone projects, industry partnerships, and adaptable workshop spaces.   Thank you to the University of Portland, our partners and everyone who contributed to bringing this highly collaborative new facility to The Bluff! Congratulations to the City of Redmond on the grand opening of the Redmond Senior & Community Center! Situated near the Sammamish River on the former site of the senior center, this new 52,000 sf facility expands the Center’s programs to create an all-ages hub for recreation and community gathering. With an aim to elevate the health, well-being, and fun for all residents, the Center offers a range of amenities including a multipurpose gym with an elevated walk/jog track, a community room with seating for up to 360 people, outdoor terraces, and a dedicated senior lounge and library. Designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, the all-electric building is grid optimal and features a 156-kW rooftop photovoltaic array and a mass timber structure. This timber structure stores approximately 977 metric tons of CO2, providing a potential carbon benefit equivalent to taking 286 cars off the road. The mass timber frame for the new Student Success Center (SSC) at Oregon State University-Cascades is up! Its biophilic design, both inside and out, reflects the colors, textures and patterns inspired by Bend's high-desert environment. Warm CLT and glulam timber structural systems, along with natural interior elements, are all geared towards fostering comfort and wellbeing. Almost there! We’re thrilled for the Redmond Senior & Community Center to open this May, providing a one-of-a-kind facility that embraces both the wellbeing of the community and a healthy climate. Earning national recognition for the first-ever LEED innovation point granted by the U.S. Green Building Council for utilizing climate-resilient wood, our project team traced and verified the source of lumber for the mass plywood panels, supporting the idea that mass timber can play a key role in supporting healthy forests, a healthy climate and resilient landscapes. Hope to share the details at next year’s Mass Timber conference!
