ICYMI: The Oregonian / OregonLive.com and ProPublica broke the story that Nike had slashed its sustainability department, cutting about 20% of employees who primarily worked on these initiatives. This is in comparison to the roughly 2% of employees who were cut company wide. The unproportional and untimely cuts to the sustainability department come roughly one year after the company's pledge to match the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement, namely by reducing company emissions by 30% by 2030. The piece includes a dozen powerful insights to inform your marketing strategy, and, not surprisingly, I want to zoom in on the share of CRM usage across higher education brands. More than half of higher education brands are leveraging Slate as their CRM, followed by Salesforce (1 out of 10), and other platforms (9%). The group of institutions I share the most empathy for is "We don't have a CRM." This challenge faced by brands is a missed opportunity, as CRMs can greatly enhance your ability to connect with prospective students and unlock powerful insights into your enrollment process.
