PaaL's Advisory Council is so fortunate to have leaders in the disaster community like Jennifer Nugent Hill . She’s long been a champion of Payments as a Lifeline (PaaL) mission: enable public & private funds to be delivered to Right person. Right time. Right purpose.      To all of us following the hurricane and fire season - what she shared about the #Caribbean and #Beryl, applies to all disasters. Learn the REAL need: calls for collection of supplies are going out. But ask 1st, who on the ground is confirming what is needed and how it will be received & distributed. e.g. some decimated islands, need evacuation vs supplies. e.g. vs sending goods, the bigger islands have supplies to get to the outer, the survivors need $ and transportation, and can buy goods from island merchants. One example of a mismatch was when a container of pantyhose were delivered to Maui. If $ is the ask, query how is will be distributed to assure it gets to the right people/org, right time for the right purpose. Public or private sector funds can be delivered fast, safe, with dignity.
