  • For the 5th consecutive year, the DGS Bureau of Procurement (BOP) has been recognized as a 2024 EPEAT Purchaser Award Winner. The award celebrates leaders in sustainable electronics procurement and comes from the Global Electronics Council (GEC), the nonprofit that manages the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) ecolabel. BOP uses EPEAT to efficiently address the lifecycle impacts of electronics purchased by DGS. The Commonwealth was 1 of 6 states to receive this award.   • On June 26, 2024, DGS partnered with the Keystone Contractors Association to host a construction outreach event at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex to introduce small businesses (SBs), small diverse businesses (SDBs), and veteran business enterprises (VBEs) to Commonwealth construction opportunities.   The event featured 70 vendors and exhibitors focused on familiarizing SBs, SDBs, and VBEs with the Commonwealth’s construction project bidding process. Leaders from both DGS’ Bureau of Diversity, Inclusion, and Small Business Opportunities (BDISBO) and the Bureau of Capital Programs collaborated to offer training, bidding guidance, and information about registering as a SB, SDB, or VBE with DGS.

    As part of Governor Josh Shapiro's commitment to creating opportunities for Pennsylvania's small businesses (SBs), the Department of General Services (DGS) announced a new initiative that enables the Commonwealth to support Pennsylvania-based small businesses by purchasing more products from them through Amazon Business.  As of June 5, supplies Commonwealth agencies purchase from Amazon Business – including office and IT equipment, paper, stationary, medical products, cleaning materials, and more – will be sourced directly from Pennsylvania-based small businesses. The ongoing initiative will enhance the Commonwealth's support of small businesses, while promoting economic growth and diversity in the supply chain.   • DGS Secretary Reggie McNeil and members of the Executive Office recently visited the future home of the new Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey. Contractors are hard at work clearing the area and laying the groundwork for the project, which will replace outdated, aging facilities with state-of-the-art, technologically advanced facilities that will meet the current training needs of the PSP and accommodate any future training needs that may arise.
