Following a natural disaster, a wide range of shelter and housing options are urgently needed to meet the diverse needs of displaced populations. Rapidly deployable, personal shelter is crucial in providing private spaces for emergency management teams as well as displaced individuals and families. This model can also be an effective part of any community’s long-term recovery strategy, allowing residents to stay on their property and offering temporary workforces a stable, cost-effective option while permanent housing supply is rebuilt. To learn more about the Post-Disaster Housing Continuum and how interim shelter helps build community resilience, read our blog.

In 2023 alone, an estimated 2.5 million Americans were forced out of their homes due to weather-related disasters. This uptick in human displacement caused by extreme weather and natural disasters corresponds to heightened stress on an already strained housing market. As affordable housing becomes increasingly scarce and prices skyrocket due to high demand, disadvantaged and low-income communities are unequipped to recover from displacing events. To learn more about how climate-related disasters are exacerbating the housing crisis, read our latest blog.
