Our top insights from the Pampers Professional Scientific Super Symposium presented at the 2024 AWHONN Convention: 1. The outermost layer of skin (stratum corneum) is our first line of defense and surface pH is 4-6. 2. Acidic, skin surface pH plays a critical role in protection, healing and in the maintenance of a healthy microbiome. 3. Slightly acidic, low pH buffered wipes used in the diapered area can help the skin resist increases in pH caused by urine and stool. 4. Robust clinical studies have demonstrated the benefits of slightly acidic low pH baby wipes, and NEW skincare guidelines for periviable infants recommend use of acidic/pH-buffered wipes for healthy and compromised skin. #HealthcareConvention #AWHONN2024 #NeonatalNursing #Obstetrics #AWHONNConvention #NursingEducation Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN)

Not a magic trick! This is the smallest diaper we use on our tiniest babies in the NICU- the Pampers Professional P3 diaper. It’s not just that is smaller than a typical diaper. This diaper has no front or back, so nurses can perform diaper changes in a developmentally supportive way whether the infant is prone or supine, on a ventilator, or around tubes and lines. The scientists and NICU professionals that developed this diaper also made sure it traps liquid stool and urine to better protect the incredibly fragile skin of infants born at the limits of viability.
