The Black Education Expo will be held at the Pasadena Convention Center on October 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is a semi-annual event series designed to empower students and families. The event serves as a one-stop hub for K-12 educational resources, workshops, and a celebration of Black and other historically marginalized communities (All Are Welcome). ----- La Black Education Expo se llevará a cabo el 12 de octubre, de 9 a. m. a 2 p. m., en el Centro de Convenciones de Pasadena. Este evento, que se realiza dos veces al año, está diseñado para empoderar a estudiantes y familias, ofreciendo recursos educativos para K-12, talleres y una celebración de las comunidades afroamericanas y otras comunidades históricamente marginadas. In 2018, Monica Sanchez participated in PIQE’s Family Engagement course, a moment that became a turning point in her life. Reflecting on her experience, Monica shares, “PIQE has taught me the significance of how important it is to become involved in the education of our little ones. Since I took the Family Engagement course back in 2018, I became the leader of my home for the education of my younger siblings.” Monica’s journey from workshop participant to Associate Director at PIQE is a testament to the power of education and community involvement. Today, she continues to inspire and empower other families, bringing her experience full circle. ----- En 2018, Mónica Sánchez participó en el Taller de Involucramiento Familiar de PIQE, el impacto fue tanto, que decidió dar un giro en su vida. Al reflexionar sobre su experiencia, Mónica comparte: “PIQE me ha enseñado la importancia de involucrarnos en la educación de nuestros pequeños. Desde que tomé el curso, me convertí en la líder de mi hogar en la educación de mis hermanos menores”. El recorrido de Mónica desde que fue participante del taller hasta ahora que es directora asociada en PIQE es un testimonio del poder de la educación y la participación comunitaria. Hoy en día, continúa inspirando y empoderando a otras familias.
