Mission: Enriching community life through healthy leisure pursuits and an appreciation of the natural world. The Park District of Highland Park is committed to enhancing the quality of life for its residents by offering recreational programs, beautiful parks, and natural areas for the community to enjoy. Founded in 1909, the Park District operates and manages more than 650 acres of land in 44 park areas including nearly a linear mile of Lake Michigan shoreline. The District serves over 30,000 residents of Highland Park, Deerfield’s King’s Cove residents that attend District 112 schools, and portions of the Town of Fort Sheridan. In excess of 2,800 recreation and seasonal programs for all ages and interests are offered annually at the indoor and outdoor facilities including a fitness center, indoor ice arena, aquatic park, indoor tennis courts, and a golf course.
