🚨 New podcast episode 🚨 The EV industry is booming. But in an effort to meet demand and build at a rapid rate, many EV manufacturers are seeking out crucial materials — including steel, aluminum and lithium, to name a few — wherever they can, leading to supply chain issues. That includes deforestation and disrupting indigenous communities. On top of that, while EVs are positioned to help make our environment cleaner and greener, the processes involved in producing these vehicles are also contributing significant emissions. “We need to understand these issues and get ahead of them,” said Matthew Groch, Senior Director at Mighty Earth, an advocacy organization and Driving Mobility podcast guest. "The EV transition is a must, but that means we need to understand what these supply chains are and how they affect people and the planet.” But how? In our latest Driving Mobility podcast episode, Matthew compellingly outlines the issues facing the EV industry today, how manufacturers can do better and how consumers can play an invaluable role, too. Give the episode a listen and share your thoughts below! 🎧 Spotify: https://lnkd.in/eUauEWdG 🎧 Apple: https://lnkd.in/eFB_DKcu

After years of tight inventory and high prices, some manufacturers are are quite literally handing over the keys to car buyers by offering up enticing incentives. That’s because manufacturers are facing softening demand and high inventory levels. Plus, customers are reluctant to buy at the moment due to persistent high interest rates. In response, average incentive packages on new vehicles rose 53% year over year in June. Some of those incentives include cash back, price cuts and low interest rates. But will this be enough to incentivize new customers and how long will this opportunity last? For many customers, these packages simply won’t suffice. But they could move the needle for those in need of a new vehicle at this very moment. Are you in the market for a new vehicle — if so, how much would these incentives impact your decision? #newcars #newvehicles #newcarsales #carsales #incentives https://lnkd.in/epHXGftu

Distracted driving remains a major issue across the US — especially when it comes to cell phone use while behind the wheel. An initiative in Wisconsin is looking to truck drivers to help put a stop to it. If it works, it could be a roadmap for other US states too. We know truckers have a “birds eye view” of the road and veteran truckers say that cell phones, once a rarity, are now a common cause of careless and distracted driving. A program called “Trooper in a Truck” is asking truckers to report drivers who are partaking in reckless behavior, whether that’s texting, engaging in aggressive driving or something else. Ideally, reporting a person before an accident occurs could help prevent an injury, or worse. What do you think — is this program something that could potentially encourage drivers to be more careful on the road? #distracteddriving #texting #textingwhiledriving #fatalities #roadfatalities #carcrashes https://lnkd.in/eQsevhVZ

Happy Independence Day! Wishing you and yours a safe and meaningful holiday. 🇺🇸🎇🇺🇸🎆#july4 #independenceday #July2024

Another holiday weekend, another travel record. Due to people being on summer vacation and still having flexible schedules has led to yet another record number of travelers going away for July 4. Nearly 71 million people are expected to make trips for the Independence Day. One in five Americans is expected to take a drive that’s 50 miles or more. Road trippers will see at least one improvement over last year — lower gas prices. That’s helpful considering we’re heading into the summer of “funflation” where so many types of entertainment — from concerts to movies — are more expensive now. Are you going away for the 4th — if so, how will you be getting there? #july4 #funflation #travelrecord #airtravelrecord #roadtravel #roadtrips #holidaytravel #flightprices #travel #independenceday https://lnkd.in/gMB95NTu

All aboard — in San Francisco, that is. Waymo, the Alphabet-owned robotaxi company, is opening up its driverless service option to any and all riders in SF. Before this, there was a lengthy waitlist that could take weeks or even months to get off of. The company is expanding its ridership as tensions run high around the issue. Some say the option isn't yet ready for prime time. Others say the only way to perfect the driverless technology is to use it in real time. People who are eager to ride cite numerous benefits: 💆♀️ Enjoying a quiet and private ride 👍 Driving in a car that’s free of human error 💡 Being a part of cutting-edge technology If Waymo is going to expand anywhere, it makes sense to do so in the tech capital of the US. It was so exciting to be at the book launch for the “Fast Future Blur,” where I had the chance to talk about the chapter I co-wrote on “Designing the Meta-Mobility Future.” Check out the clip below, in which I discuss our progress from Mobility 1.0 to Mobility 2.0 and eventually, to Mobility 3.0. Give the entire talk a listen on YouTube, where you’ll also hear from other book contributors, including Dr. Martha Boeckenfeld and Alan Clelland. https://lnkd.in/ec6CuBDN The Fast Future Executive #mobility #futureofmobility #autonomousvehicle #sharedmobility
