About us

The County Attorney is appointed by the Board of County Commissioners and is directly responsible to the Board. This office provides legal advice and representation to the Board of County Commissioners and its employees. The County Attorney's Office provides legal assistance to all departments, divisions, committees and boards under the Board of County Commissioners and the Constitutional Officers upon request. The County Attorney represents the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners during all public hearings attended by the Board. The County Attorney counsels various boards and committees formed by the Board of County Commissioners including Planning Commission and numerous other advisory boards and committees. The County Attorney, Chief Assistant County Attorney and Assistant County Attorneys prosecute and defend all lawsuits brought by and against the County, represent the County at administrative hearings, draft and review ordinances and resolutions requested by the Board, approve all contracts, bonds and written instruments for form and correctness and render legal opinions upon the request of the Board of County Commissioners, County Administrator, and the various County departments. Knowledge in sunshine law, ethics and public records is preferred, but not required. Admission to the Bar and prior experience or education in transactional matters or local governmental law preferred. However, we will consider the right applicant who will be taking the Bar this July. Salary is dependent on the attorney’s experience and knowledge in the above-referenced area of law.
