The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois announced the indictment of two individuals for misconduct in connection to their respective bankruptcy cases. These cases have attracted significant media attention due to both defendants’ connections to the mayor of Dolton, whose alleged misuse of taxpayer funds has reportedly left the village in millions of dollars of debt. The EDNY recently resolved competing motions to dismiss in a patent dispute between two manufacturers of armored fiber optic cables. The Court ruled that the defendant lacked Article III standing to bring a “correction of patent inventorship” counterclaim against the plaintiff because the defendant did not have a “concrete financial interest” in the patent at issue.
