The #PattersonFoundation has been busy! Erica Olsen, Patterson Dental Territory Manager out of the Milwaukee branch, met with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry for a check presentation. The AACD's mission is to assist in rebuilding the smiles and lives of adults who've suffered dental injuries from domestic and sexual violence through their Give Back a Smile program. This year’s award from the Patterson Foundation for $20,000 will support this exact program! This is their fifth award since 2016, with our support totaling nearly $36,000. We asked Erica what this award means to the area: "My heart was full as the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry was founded by the late Jack Kammer, a highly respected Dentist in Madison who was well know for his professional excellence and his charitable work in the community. His son, Dr. Chris Kammer is a dear friend of mine whom I shared this with. The family is also extremely grateful for Patterson’s contribution to their father’s continued legacy. Thank you!"

The #PattersonFoundation recently awarded Dental Lifeline Network a grant for $20,000, totaling to over $1.26M in assistance since 2005. Kelsey Strickland, Patterson Dental General Manager out of the Denver branch, met with Dental Lifeline Network for a check presentation and it's safe to say they were excited to see her! This grant will go toward supporting the Donated Dental Services program which provides free dental care for those in need.

Mandy Harrison, General Manager for Patterson Dental out of the Charleston branch, met with leaders at the Volunteers in Medicine Clinic | Hilton Head Island to award them $10,000 from the #PattersonFoundation. This award is to support personnel costs and add 285 additional hours for their hygienists to provide cleaning treatments. This is a free dental clinic for the low-income and uninsured living or working on Hilton Head Island. "It was a true pleasure to meet Kim Likins and Dr. John Newham and tour the Volunteers in Medicine Hilton Head Clinic to learn more about the tremendous work they are doing to serve their communities. The tour of the clinic was fantastic! I was fascinated by the ways they are incorporating a total wellness approach to the services they provide that includes growing fresh produce on site. It was a treat to see the true fruits of their labor in person including fresh lettuce, eggplants, avocados, mangoes, and even bananas that they were growing in the parking lot!," Mandy said.

Friday was the last day for our summer intern class. We like to have each intern share the projects they worked on over the summer, what they learned - like a professional show-and-tell. This experience will certainly be beneficial for their careers going forward, but we also learn an immense amount from our interns. What projects they most enjoyed, what experiences taught them the most, what was the biggest surprise...these were all questions that were answered in their final presentations and gives us valuable information to continue growing our internship program. Patterson is all about our partnerships and the stories we can tell at the end of every day. Patterson Dental helped Chisholm Dentistry prepare Dr. John Chisholm for his son, Dr. Josh Chisholm, to join the practice. This was a plan they'd had since Josh turned 15 years old. While his son was in dental school, John added four new operatories, doubled the number of hygiene days, added new equipment and ultimately increased his practice's production by 20%. For Patterson VP of CISO, martial arts and cybersecurity aren't so different. Yes, one may involve throwing kicks and deflecting punches while the other requires writing code and working with computers. However, they're both fundamentally related through their emphasis on defense. Just like in martial arts, Peter says cybersecurity falls back on the fundamentals more often than not: “The reality is, it’s rarely a highly sophisticated technique that causes a breach. The defender didn’t do the fundamentals as strongly as they could. It’s not fancy, it’s not always exciting, but you must rely back on the fundamentals and make sure you’re doing the basics really, really, really well.” Peter recently presented this perspective at Secure 360, an annual cybersecurity conference. With cybersecurity being such an important part of any company's infrastructure, we're thankful to have Peter's leadership and attention to detail on our team! #WeArePatterson

Our partnership with Hope Dental Clinic has been a longstanding part of the #PattersonFoundation. With nearly $200,000 granted across the lifetime of our partnership, watch to learn more about the Foundation's most recent grant and how it's helping Hope Dental's local Minnesotan community:

We packed more than 3,000 hygiene kits for local nonprofits! "Patterson fully believes in and supports our commitment to community, so I want to make sure our interns know that if you are going to be an employee here and a team member at Patterson, you’re able to be in the community and support passions that you have outside of work,” Senior Patterson Foundation Manager Lindsay Stewart said. A group of 27 employees and interns came together at our office in Minnesota in honor of Juneteenth and Pride Month, smashing our goal of 1,000 kits. These will be donated to The Bridge for Youth and the Hallie Q. Brown Community Center! #WeArePatterson
