PCI Mid-Atlantic loves celebrating our young professionals! Had a great turnout at our summer meeting last week in Annapolis. Lots of folks really got into the Mardi Gras theme including Mat Gould with Northeast Prestressed Products, LLC. And yes, that's a brass band playing behind Alexis Carr and her fiance, Nick Dennis. We had a ball in Annapolis with this year's Mardi Gras theme. Complete with the Naptown Brass Band marching us to our dinner cruise. It was a sight to see! Our highest attendance so far with over 140 members including spouses and children. Thank you Kim and Dennis Fink, Gary Shrieves, Martha and Bob Risser, P.E., and A.J. Sassaman for supporting the theme!

A Night at the Museum... The Museum of the American Revolution Case Study. In our newest eLearning Center on demand course, the project team shares their unique challenges in designing and constructing this historic structure in Old City, Philadelphia. Public comments were incorporated into the exterior building design that incorporates architectural precast concrete. Site conditions, code regulations, and artifact exhibits required creative solutions to meet budget and schedule requirements. In the June issue of Ascent – Precast Protects Life – several projects showcase the longevity, resiliency, life safety, and robust construction aspects of #precastconcrete. New York City Fire Department Rescue Company 2, Brooklyn, NY, is a 21,400-ft2 total-precast building designed by Studio Gang under the New York City Department of Design and Construction’s Project Excellence Program. The fire and rescue workers use the building to simulate a wide range of urban rescues. Precast Pioneers. PCI is celebrating 70 years of precast concrete knowledge this year. PCI and its volunteers develop, maintain, and disseminate the Body of Knowledge for the design, fabrication, and erection of precast concrete structures and systems. Many of our regional members have contributed hundreds of hours over their careers on various technical committees to drive innovations in our industry.
