PCSIG Patient Advisory Group The PCSIG held its first Patient Advisory Group event on Thursday 15th August, attended by 7 patients and caregivers from across Europe and North America. The positive, honest, informative and uplifting conversation covered experiences of collecting blood samples, benefits and challenges associated with patient centric sampling, and suggestions as to how we might progress with implementing these approaches in the future and how this group might be involved. We learned a huge amount and are now busy compiling the notes and actions, which will be shared with our community soon and will form the basis of future activities. We would very much like to thank all of the participants who shared their experiences so openly and honestly. We also extend a big thank you to Natalie Swiderska and Jenny Royle of MediPaCe for organising this stand out event. We could not have done this without you :-) #patientcentricsampling #patientadvisorygroup #bloodsampling

Precision Microsampling and Analysis of Dried Matrix Spots (Blood and other Bio Fluids), Mass Spectrometry, Metabolic Screening, Clinical Chemistry, Forensic Toxicology, Exposomics
I delighted that I was asked to provide a lecture at tomorrows Boston Children’s Hospital Metabolism Grand Rounds. The lecture is Tuesday, August 20th, from Noon to 1pm EST via Zoom entitled "Mass Spectrometry and The Sea Change in Rare Disease Screening" Please message me for the zoom link if you would like to view online (and also share with other colleagues). Here is their announcement below. ________________________________ Boston Children’s Hospital Metabolism Grand Rounds, 8/20 at 12pm EST Speaker: Donald Chace, PhD, Laboratory Director at miQro Lab solutions in East Providence, Rhode Island, and senior scientist at Capitainer Inc. Title: “Mass Spectrometry and The Sea Change in Rare Disease Screening” Learning objectives: At the end of the session, the participants will be able to: Understand how mass spectrometry revolutionized (sea change) newborn screening and put all the states equally advanced screening How mass spectrometry is more than newborn screening but metabolomics for pediatrics as we move beyond newborns to special populations like NICU babies and nutrition monitoring The microsampling aspect of newborn screening (the dried blood spot) has laid the ground work for the next revolution in healthcare access through remote microsampling of dried blood and other matrices for children and adults in many new areas from toxic elements (Pb) to drug and disease detection and monitoring

Posting on behalf of an active PCSIG member. If you can help, please respond in the comments, message me, or email [email protected] "I am seeking a regulatory consultant who can guide us through the evolving EU IVDR and UK MHRA regulations for IVD devices to be use by a layperson. Both regulatory frameworks have experienced numerous changes, posing challenges for market access with new technologies."
