Our team continues to grow! Welcome to Pearl Street, Cassandra Xia. Cassandra joins us as a Senior Computational Software Engineer II with extensive experience in the climate space. She's excited to support our mission to build best-in-class software to mitigate the interconnection backlog, and we're excited to have her.

We are thrilled to be partnering with Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) on this effort. Any delay in the schedule is always unfortunate, but we see this as an investment to enable a truly transformative payoff: a fast, repeatable, and transparent process that all interconnection stakeholders will ultimately benefit from. Welcome to the Pearl Street team, Margaret Chen! Margaret joins us as an Associate Computational Engineer and a fellow Carnegie Mellon University alumnus. As a recent graduate with a BS in Computational and Applied Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science, Margaret has a solid foundation in numerical methods and a passion for computational software. We're excited for Margaret to apply her background to building best-in-class automation software to help #undothequeue!

Considering that our foundational technology spun out of research from Carnegie Mellon University, we've maintained important relationships with the university and are thrilled to be able to recruit from this pool of talented students. As such, we're excited to welcome our summer intern, Chaitanya Doshi, a master’s student at CMU studying Software Engineering for Scalable Systems, to the Pearl Street and Pittsburgh team!

This is a subject near and dear to our hearts, as we've worked with transmission providers such as Southwest Power Pool and Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) to introduce more automation into their study processes. By mid-summer, roughly 300 GW of projects - about 10% of the nation's queue backlog - will have been modeled in our SUGAR™ software by transmission providers in their efforts to accelerate interconnection studies. We remain motivated by our impact on the energy transition and we're looking forward to dialoguing with other industry experts about the full spectrum of innovative solutions to expedite interconnection and transmission planning.
