It is the belief of Pee Dee Coalition that the reduction of family violence, sexual assault and child abuse is a community issue and concerns the total community, not just women and service providers, but all who value the basic human desire to be free from physical threat and harm. Through the efforts of Pee Dee Coalition in its entirety, the region will be a safer, more compassionate community. Pee Dee Coalition is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to the reduction of sexual assault, family violence and child abuse and to the needs of victims.

    EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Position Title: New Beginnings Transitional Shelter Counselor (Full-Time) Summary of Duties: The Counselor, under the direct supervision of the New Beginnings Shelter Program Coordinator shall be responsible for the provision of individual, group and family counseling services to shelter residents. This is a grant-funded position. Salary commensurate with education and experience. QUALIFICATIONS:  Master’s degree in counseling, social work or a related field and two years of experience in counseling; experience in trauma informed care, working with both adults and children.  Strong communication and inter-personal skills, ability to work independently as well as part of a team.  Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with residents and staff.  Ability to use neutral and non-judgmental language when responding to clients.  Ability to engage with residents using a trauma informed perspective  Knowledge of Socio/cultural dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking victimization.  Skilled in accurate data entry.  Flexible work schedule required to include evenings and weekends on a rotating basis.
