Penn State Campus Recreation is now accepting applications for an athletic trainer, who will be working directly with our club sports program. The Athletic Trainer will assist with providing coverage for all high-risk competitive club sports, including first aid, injury treatment, and emergency response. This position will be responsible for the operation of the athletic training room, including patient injury care, injury prevention, and rehabilitation. Additional responsibilities include baseline concussion testing for high-risk competitive sport participants, and concussion evaluation and return-to-play progression plans. The Athletic Trainer will work closely with University Health Services and provide professional referrals to patients as needed. They will also coordinate and schedule medical coverage at home club sport competitions for the high-risk tier-level clubs. We are thrilled to announce our newest coordinator for Facilities & Operations, Grace Ashley! Grace will be overseeing our facilities and operations at the Mary B. White Building, Hepper Fitness Center & West Turf Fields.

Congrats to Stephen Nedoroscik for his Olympic BRONZE medal 🥉 While attending Penn State University, Stephen practiced in Campus Recreation's Mary B. White Building. He joins more than two dozen Penn Staters, representing 11 countries in 14 sports at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris—many of whom have trained in Campus Recreation facilities.

Congratulations to Aidan Kleinman! Aidan is a Sr. Student Manager with Aquatics, and will be continuing his campus recreation journey as the Aquatics Graduate Assistant with Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) Campus Recreation. At MTSU, he will be pursuing a master's degree in data science beginning in the Fall of 2024. Good luck, Aidan!

It's National Swimming Pool Day! Campus Rec oversees multiple swimming pool locations around campus (not including the Lion's personal pool in the video). Our pools include the indoor and outdoor pools at McCoy Natatorium and the pool at the Mary B. White Building. Dive in and celebrate with us!

This spring semester, many of our club sports competed in national competitions, including Club Climbing, Club Gymnastics, and Club Baseball (who won a national title)! Our club sports program allows students to play at a more competitive level than Intramural Leagues, offering both traditional and non-traditional sports while being part of a registered student organization. Congrats to all our club sport participants—we're excited to see what the coming school year brings for our teams!

At Penn State Campus Recreation, we are proud to share the inspiring story of Samantha Longo, M.S, our facilities and operations coordinator at the Intramural Building. Sam began her undergraduate journey at University of Nevada-Las Vegas with a focus on athletic training, aiming for a career in athletics. However, her path took a meaningful turn when she took a job as a facility attendant in her second semester of undergrad and discovered her passion for campus recreation. Under the guidance of her empathetic mentor and supervisor, Michael Bricker, Sam realized that she could build a fulfilling career in this field. Motivated by Mike's impactful leadership, she shifted her focus to recreation upon graduation and has been dedicated to student development ever since. Her journey to Penn State University Campus Recreation underscores our supportive, family-like environment, where experiences and memories are both priceless and life-lasting. Sam brings that life-lasting impact from her first campus rec job to mentor the student facility attendants she now oversees.
