MASTER'S IN HRER A couple weeks ago we had orientation for our MS in HRER students followed by a luncheon (sponsored by Caterpillar Inc. ) for new 2-year MS HRER students, Psych/LHR/Spanish IUGs, and MPS, LGWR students. MPP student Victoria Akwamaa Yeboah spent her summer working in local government as a Strategic Communications intern. The experience combined a few of her special interests, including conducting research, writing, and creating digital communications. "Working as an intern at Ferguson Township (Township of Ferguson) has been an enriching experience, with so many opportunities for growth. The tasks I have been engaged in have contributed to my professional development and equipped me with a diverse set of skills. I have learned so much about teamwork, adaptability and how to be more creative. I have also gotten a broader understanding of public relations practices and government communications which are relevant to my program of study. The employees are friendly and kind, which makes the learning process enjoyable.” Our students are working to make an impact on all levels of government. Well done, Victoria! 🔷 ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT 🔷 Shamar Stokes is a Penn State School of Labor and Employment Relations alumnus who earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Labor and Human Resources with a Minor is African American Studies with a Certificate in Diversity. He currently works as a HR and Benefits Assistant with Episcopal Community Services, Philadelphia. Shamar’s advice to students is to embrace “every learning opportunity, both inside and outside the classroom. My degree in Labor and Human Resources, along with my studies in African American Studies and Diversity, opened doors I hadn't even considered before. These diverse perspectives have not only allowed me to excel in my role today but have also fueled my passion for continuous learning, leading me to pursue an MBA with a focus on Human Resources and a future Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership.” #WeAre are proud what you've done Shamar, and can't wait to see where you take your next steps!
