What a way to kick off Black Business Month! It was great to celebrate our longstanding Penn supplier EMSCO Scientific Enterprise, Inc. on becoming the first portfolio company in The Enterprise Center’s Innovate Capital Growth Fund. As a recipient, EMSCO receives an equity investment to continue their work providing laboratory supplies to researchers across the nation. Congratulations to Lin Thomas and team, your hard work and commitment to excellence over the years has been a benefit to the Penn community! We look forward to seeing how this investment propels the company forward!

Before we let July pass, it’s worth reflecting on some big numbers from FY 2024. It certainly was a busy year for procurement at the University of Pennsylvania as evidenced by just a few high-level numbers to demonstrate impact and volumes.. - Over $37 million in total sourcing value-add in the form of cost savings and incremental revenue generation - Over 200,000 invoices processed via end-to-end electronic automation - Over 78,000 payments made electronically - Over 66 million air travel miles supported - Over 5,500 procurement contracts negotiated and executed - Over $180 million in spend with diverse suppliers - Over $800 million in local spend (within a 25-mile radius of Penn’s campus), including nearly $500 million in spend within the City of Philadelphia and over $180 million in spend with businesses in West and Southwest Philadelphia Big thanks to the Penn buying community, as well as our suppliers and service providers, for the ongoing collaboration on making smart procurement happen! #pennprocurement #collaboration #sourcingimpact #automation #inclusivebusiness #fuelingbusinessgrowth
