Meet Adonay! 😊 Originally from Los Angeles, Adonay spent years working as an HVAC repairman and handyman. But after moving in with his girlfriend, conflicts arose, and he eventually lost his housing. The instability of living on the streets took a toll on his mental and physical health, and he lost his job. Thankfully, Adonay connected with an outreach worker who helped him secure interim housing through Mayor Bass' Inside Safe Initiative. Soon after, he moved into his own apartment at Vida DTLA, part of LAHSA's Master Lease program, with supportive services provided by PATH. Now, Adonay takes pride in keeping his apartment neat and tidy and looks forward to resting and relaxing in his new home. ✏️ Spark Church hosted the 2nd annual "Back to School" event for families at Evans Lane! 📚 They not only provided backpacks, school supplies, food, and refreshments but also set up an engaging arts and crafts table for families to decorate their own water bottles. They went above and beyond to ensure that families felt supported by having bilingual greeters with checklists to guide families to the supplies they needed. Meet Isaac! ☀️ Isaac was born and raised in San Diego and is a US Army Veteran who served in South Korea and Iraq. He felt called to serve our country after September 11th, and after he was honorably discharged, he began to experience PTSD. That led him to self-medicate with substances, and that instability led to homelessness. After engaging in illegal activity to survive the streets, he began to cycle in and out of the justice system. Isaac eventually connected with the VA, PATH, and our HUD VASH program. He is now sober and moved into his own apartment. Isaac spoke at a press conference held by Congressmember Mike Levin announcing new policies to help more unhoused veterans make it home. He wants other veterans to know that help is out there.
