Celebrating 30 years of PetSmart Charities! Since 1994, they have been leading the change for good and partnering with local rescues and shelters across North America to help create families through pet adoption. (Psst! Did you know that 400,000+ pets are adopted each year thanks to over 2,500 adoption partners? ❣️) We’re proud to support local communities and enhance the adoption process--PetSmart’s in-store adoptions make it easy for families to welcome a pet into their lives. In response to the 30 million pets facing food insecurity, PetSmart Charities has donated 350 million pet meals since 2016 and established the first-ever Pet Hunger Awareness Day last year, with an aim to raise awareness and help families and pets receive the nutrition they need to stay healthy. ⭐️ Together, we can continue to make a difference. The summer heat brings all sorts of adventures for pet parents. But with all this excitement, it's important to keep our furry friends safe. While you’re having your end-of-summer fun, keep these helpful and hot tips in mind. ☀️ 🚗 Hot Cars: Even in 85°F, a car can reach 120°F in 30 minutes! Never leave your pets in the car, even with the windows cracked. 💧 Dehydration: Panting cools dogs down, but in excess can lead to dehydration. Always have plenty of fresh water for your pup. 🔥 Overheating/Heat Stroke: Dogs can overheat quickly. Watch out for signs of heat stroke, especially in shorter-snouted breeds (like bulldogs and pugs). Keep them cool and avoid midday walks. 🐾 Paw Burns: Pavement can get scorching hot! On an 80°F day, it can reach up to 125°F. Protect those paws by sticking to grassy areas or waiting for cooler parts of the day.
