I’ve been working at Phoenix Arts & Innovation District (PHXJAX) for 2 1/2 years so to say I’m excited about getting our first renovated building open is an understatement! Glass is going up, 100 year old floors are getting refinished, windows are replaced, light fixtures are installing this week. We’re on track to start moving in mid-September. Are you looking for a gorgeous creative office vibe? I’m touring the spaces with future tenants daily and I’d love to show you what’s in store for The Emerald Station. Our team often says we are anti-gentrification and pro withintrification. By empowering our existing residents to take the lead, we ensure development aligns with their needs and aspirations, and foster a collaborative approach where community members actively participate in the decision making. Last night’s event in partnership with Groundwork Jacksonville is an example of providing a forum for community discussion and input into strategies that will be implemented. We discussed the current flooding challenges our neighbors face and worked together on planning a holistic approach to addressing those issues through Groundwork Jacksonville’s McCoys Creek and Hogans Creek Watersheds.

We are so excited about the installation of the Little Free Diverse Library by 904WARD and Yellow House at the corner of 15th and Hubbard in the Phoenix Arts & Innovation District. This week we added a number of art books in addition to the children’s books and novels already in the library. We’re grateful for this partnership and the immediate benefit this little library will bring to our community.

People always ask us, “Why Jacksonville?” And we ask, “Why not Jacksonville?” Construction has begun on the Liberty Building, which will house over 17,000 square feet of artist studios, galleries, and small-format retail and restaurants. We are excited to have Naked Kitchen as the first restaurant tenant, bringing health conscious food options to our community. Complementing this building is Market on Market (2335 Market Street) that will serve as an outdoor marketplace and greenspace for community activity.
