In short, he's an incredible ally. He made Minnesota a refuge for trans people, signed a law banning conversion therapy and advocated for same-sex marriage and the repeal of "Don't Ask Don't Tell" during his time serving in the US Congress. Hi there, we hope this LinkedIn post finds you well... If reading that gives you the "ick" turns out you're not alone. Workplace jargon is as old as work itself, but not surprisingly, Gen-Z and Millenials are over it and would prefer not to be on the other end of it. The truth is that overuse of workplace jargon terms like "net-net", "deep-dive" and "leverage" can hamper productivity and further inequities in the workplace, especially for those for whom English is a second language. We've identified some of the most cringe-inducing workplace jargon, the meanings, and most importantly, how to avoid using it in meetings and work-related conversations. Did we miss any? Let us know in the comments and we'll circle-back! #Workplacejargon #Circleback https://lnkd.in/eKhMi864

In a landmark ruling, the highest court in Nepal ruled that a trans woman should be recognised as a woman on her legal documents without having to submit to medical verification. While the ruling has set a precedent for trans rights in the country, other transgender people will need to petition the court separately to have their gender recognised without medical intervention. Have you heard about the 'rainbow glass ceiling?' Let's face the facts, corporate boardroom seats and C-suite positions are still predominantly held by straight, white cis-men. While there has been progress and more representation for women and other marginalised groups in boardrooms, LGBTQ+ representation is still glaringly lacking. Estimates point to less than one per cent of the 5,670 boardroom seats at Fortune 500 companies filled by an LGBTQ+ director. 📉 New research from Ryan Federo, an associate professor at the Universitat de les Illes Balears (University of the Balearic Islands), identifies the key barriers that stifle queer professionals’ corporate climb and how they adjust their behaviours to circumvent the glass ceiling. Read more below and if you've been held up (or broken) through the rainbow glass ceiling let us know! #Boardrooms #LGBTQ #Corporate
Is a 'rainbow glass ceiling' keeping LGBTQ+ professionals from the boardroom?

It seems that bigots are now mad at legendary motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson for supporting LGBTQ+ inclusion. After singling out John Deere and Tractor Supply for believing everyone can buy farm equipment, right-wing pundit Robby Starbuck released a video saying that the HD customer base doesn't have views that reflect the company's values and policies. It's worth noting though that in its 120-year history, Harley-Davidson has never purported to represent groups that go against DEI initiatives. In fact, the company has a long history of promoting LGBTQ+ rights and has consistently shared posts in solidarity with queer people and Pride. John Deere is the latest American-based agricultural firm to abandoned LGBTQ+ and other inclusion policies after being on the receiving end of right-wing 'anti-woke' backlash. The company said it will "no longer participate or support external social or cultural awareness parades, festivals or events." They join Tractor Supply who upset the far-right conservative contingent after they donated to LGBTQ+ youth charites. Read more below! ⬇️ #LGBTQ #Business

Trans women without a gender recognition certificate (GRC) can’t apply for jobs deemed only right for women, the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has decided. Essentially, the EHRC's updated guidance says companies can legally exclude trans women from jobs advertised “for women only”, such as positions in domestic abuse shelters. The guidance is specifically focused on those publishing the ads, to “support employers and individuals to understand where adverts are lawful and where they are potentially unlawful and discriminatory”.
