The bees, butterflies, birds, beetles, bats, moths, flies, and others move pollen from flower to flower, plant to plant. It’s national pollinator week! Pollinators are vital for our ecosystems and food supply. There are tons of great ways to support pollinators. One way our landscape architects support them is designing site-specific seed mixes for our clients' projects with pollinators in mind. On May 15th, thirty 12-year-old girls from Denver-area middle schools participated in the GESTEM program – Girls Exploring Science Technology Engineering and Math – and worked to install #Beemats floating wetlands in Sloan’s Lake. These young ladies learned about #waterquality, #botany, #plant biology, & using floating #wetlands to mitigate nutrient #pollution. This project was sponsored by Pinyon Environmental, Inc., Ferguson Waterworks, Beemats Floating Wetlands, and the City and County of Denver Parks and Recreation Department. Last week, Pinyon Air Quality Specialist Kaitlin Meszaros with our teaming partner Natasha Reddy at Porosity presented new guidance on the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s super-emitter program along with recent changes to Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reporting under Subpart W and how both will affect operators’ exposure to the IRA waste emissions charge.
