The Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts is thrilled to announce the return of "Broadway at the Bars," an exciting interactive competition that offers participants the chance to win (2) tickets to the highly anticipated opening night of Mrs. Doubtfire! As we celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Broadway Comes to Reno, we invite the community to support the arts and partake in a specialty cocktail inspired by Mrs. Doubtfire and the shows that follow! For patrons to participate and be entered to win tickets to opening night, they only need to order the "Mrs. Doubtfire" cocktail from their server, snap a selfie with the drink, post it on Instagram, and then follow and tag @PioneerCenter. A winner will be chosen on September 1st for Mrs. Doubtfire! We can't wait to see (and taste) all the fun cocktails this season!

The premier performing arts venue in northern Nevada
About us
Located in downtown Reno, the Pioneer Center is the premier performing arts facility in northern Nevada, operating continuously since opening for business in 1968. The facility is owned and operated by Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts, a private 501(c)(3) cultural organization established in 1988 to preserve the theater as a home for local arts organizations. Our mission is to cultivate exceptional performing arts experiences in our historic venue and throughout the region because we envision a community that is connected, enriched, and inspired through the power of live performance. As the stewards of a cultural treasure, we believe that we are all stronger together, education is fundamental to a thriving community, and that the arts are for everyone. The Pioneer Center houses a 1,500-seat mainstage proscenium auditorium, the 150-seat Pioneer Underground cabaret-theater, and the E.L. Cord Plaza which is also used for outdoor events and performances. We host productions by three resident companies: Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, A.V.A. Ballet Theatre, and Artown; as well as a variety of arts programs ranging from local student recitals to international tours. Since 1995, the Pioneer Center has presented the Broadway Comes to Reno series, bringing nationally tours of Broadway shows directly to our community. On average, the Pioneer Center hosts over 100 events and serves over 120,000 patrons each year.

The Pioneer Center welcomed 35 student actors to work directly with cast members from the Broadway national tour of To Kill a Mockingbird, playing our venue through June 23rd. Maeve Moynihan (Scout Finch) and Greg Jackson (Ensemble) conducted an Acting Audition Workshop, leading students through exercises and personalized coaching to help improve upon their audition material and acting skills. This 2-hour special workshop is a part of the Pioneer Center's Behind the Curtain education program, connecting local theater students with Broadway professionals who come to Reno on the national tours. Look for more workshop opportunities coming up in our 30th Anniversary Broadway Season. Thank you to Maeve, Greg, and the talented students for a great workshop!
