Had the pleasure of volunteering for Sports San Diego hoisting up the “Big Flag” during the national anthem of the Manchester United vs. Real Betis Balompié game last night. Working with sports commissions and DMOs/CVBs for a couple years now, this was my first taste of a large-scale event experience from a different lense. Seeing what all goes into it before the game kicks off and weeks leading up to it with volunteer planning… more goes on behind the scenes than you know! Fun fact about this flag - it’s 45,000 square feet and weighs 850 pounds. Shoulder workout is complete for the week 😅 Bonus: First EU game I’ve seen and got spoiled with 4 goals in the first 30 minutes 🙌🏼
