Ports America's commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles reflects our commitment to our stakeholders and communities. This year, we are proud to announce that 16 of our locations are Green Marine certified! Green Marine is the leading environmental certification program for North America’s maritime industry. It is a voluntary initiative that helps its participants improve their environmental performance beyond regulations. Green Marine targets key environmental issues related to biodiversity protection, air, water, soil quality, and community relations. Spearheaded by Dr. Sharifa Batts, Head of Environment & Sustainability, and Kelli Hardesty, Environment and Sustainability Manager, Ports America's participation in the Green Marine certification program allows us to highlight the strides we have made in our decarbonization initiatives.

June 25th was International Day of the Seafarer! Seafarers contribute to the safe and efficient operation of marine vessels and are vital to the world economy. These brave individuals carry out responsibilities that range from navigation, maintenance, and cargo handling, to safety procedures and emergency response. We owe it all to seafarers and their commitment to keep global trade moving! #DayoftheSeafarer

This #NationalSafetyMonth, we’re reminded that safety extends beyond our workplace—it’s about looking out for all members of our community, including our feathered friends! Last Thursday, around noon at Port Tampa Bay, Security Officer Josie Sanchez and ILA Clerk Leighton Grenville noticed a mother and father duck in distress. When they looked closer, they found that 11 ducklings had fallen into a storm drain! Mr. Grenville quickly called Ports America Mechanic John Rath, who brought over tools to remove the drainage grate and help free the ducklings. With the help of fellow Clerk Jamie McFarland, Mr. Grenville was able to collect all the ducklings into a cardboard box. Momma duck observed the whole operation, making sure all her ducklings were safe and accounted for. The team then carefully transported the ducklings to their home pond, where they were released and reunited as a family. #OperationDucklingRescue
