We're so grateful to our employees! They not only provide best-in-class service to our members and communities, but many have also served or are currently serving their Country too. One of our own - South Dakota Army National Guard 1st Sgt. Michael Kroells - nominated PVREA to the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). We were awarded an ESGR Above and Beyond Award which is presented to employers who've gone above and beyond to support their military employees. There's no doubt that vets power us, and we're committed to do all we can to help veterans, active military, and their partners and families excel within our cooperative. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for our co-op and country.

🎉 A huge win for Poudre Valley REA & our members!   Yesterday, we had the honor of hosting United States Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Congresswoman Yadira Caraveo, MD (CO-08), & other Colorado energy & agriculture leaders. Together, we celebrated the USDA’s investment in electric cooperatives and local clean energy. The USDA awarded us a $9.12 million partially forgivable loan that will help us build two new solar & battery energy storage projects, including our 4th & largest community solar farm.   With the help of this monumental investment, we can build a brighter future for the communities and members we serve. Stay tuned for updates as these two projects come online.

Celebrating 23 years of LeRoy Mace, CMAT, CMTT, — LeRoy was an integral part of our PVREA team from 2001 until his retirement just this past April 15, 2024. LeRoy began as a Fleet Mechanic with PVREA back in 2001, & through his understanding & commitment to everything relating to automotive services & repairs, LeRoy grew into our Lead Mechanic, & eventually into our Shop Foreman.   During his time at PVREA, LeRoy accomplished something that very few have achieved: 45+ years ASE Master Certification in multiple areas. LeRoy's dedication to his trade, his friendly demeanor, his knowledge of great fishing spots throughout Colorado, & his passion for ensuring all of our PVREA service vehicles are ready to go at a moments notice is something we'll miss greatly. We wish LeRoy a happy retirement & we hope to continue to see him around our cooperative.

We're happy to congratulate Craig Harney, our Operations Superintendent here at Poudre Valley REA, as he was honored with the prestigious Patriot Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.   Craig was nominated by Mike Kroells, our Construction and Maintenance Supervisor, to acknowledge the support & sacrifices made by Craig and the entire Operations team in supporting Mike's military service.   "As a Veteran myself, I know the sacrifices Mike & his family make," Craig said. "Mike is in a position where he has two full-time jobs, & by supporting him when he is away from PVREA, we are supporting him in reaching his military goals as well."   The Patriot Award, a Department of Defense award, celebrates organizations that demonstrate outstanding dedication to fostering a supportive environment for our military personnel. It is a true honor for Craig, the operations team, and PVREA to be acknowledged with this award.   Mike is currently a First Sergeant in the U.S. military, having joined the South Dakota Army National Guard on February 2nd, 2001, & has spent time serving in Afghanistan, as well as having conducted training missions on the southern border, South America, Europe, & in multiple U.S. States.   As Mike continues to progress toward his goal of becoming a Command Sergeant Major, we are thankful for all that he, his family, & our operations team do to support him.   "I have goals & ambitions, both here at PVREA & in my military career," Mike said. "Without the support of PVREA, I wouldn't be able to reach those military goals."

Cooperative Principle 5, Education, Training, & Information, states: "Education and training for members, elected representatives, co-op staff, and community partners help them all effectively contribute to the development and success of our cooperative." A big thank you to PVREA Working Foreman & volunteer firefighter Kelly Streeb & PVREA Journeyman Lineman & volunteer firefighter Steven Leenerts for demonstrating this principle by hosting a table-top safety demonstration with the crew over at Glacier View Fire District!   Working with first responders to ensure they know what to do if they arrive at an accident around electrical equipment is a key step in helping everyone stay safe around electricity. We're happy to support their team & other first responders in staying safe around electricity!
