Congratulations to Mr. Buhmeier, who received REX Therapeutics physical and occupational therapy at Premier Healthcare of New Harmony!
Join us in congratulating another successful therapy graduate! Mr. Buhmeier was admitted to Premier Healthcare of New Harmony after falling at home and sustaining a right femur fracture. He was in the hospital for three days before coming to our home for therapy. Upon physical and occupational therapy evaluations, Mr. Buhmeier was unable to assist much with transfers, requiring a sit-to-stand lift due to his severe pain and weakness. He needed total care to perform dressing tasks and inability to reach below his knees. Before his fall, Mr. Buhmeier was independent with his mobility and daily living activities (ADL) tasks. He lived in a home with eight steps to enter. He did not use any assistive device to help him ambulate. He was very motivated to return to his home and his usual routine. After daily therapy and dedication to reaching his personal goals, he began ambulating with a rolling walker with assistance from one person. Eventually, he dressed himself using a reacher, sock aid, and leg lifter to promote self-independence. Eventually, he could perform all his daily activities with supervision and with good balance and strength. We are proud to announce that he could return to his home to resume his routine.
