During Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham's Early Childhood Summit, ECECD brought together participants from diverse backgrounds, including early childhood education professionals from state and Tribal programs, K–12, and higher education, legislators, parents and caregivers, funders, advocates, healthcare providers, and national early childhood experts. The summit featured a National Perspective panel that delved into what the science of early childhood development tells us about the importance of the early years, effective state policies to keep in mind, key implementation considerations, how state leaders can assess ongoing family needs and experiences as they access/use programs, and what an effective family-centered system might look like in an ideal world. Special thanks to our National Perspective panelists: Dr. Jack Shonkoff, Founding Director of the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University, and Dr. Cynthia Osborne, Founder and Executive Director of the National Prenatal-to-3 Policy Impact Center at Vanderbilt University. Together, we’re building a strong future for New Mexico’s children and families.
