About us

Prevent Child Abuse Georgia is a statewide affiliate of Prevent Child Abuse America, with the mission to prevent the abuse and neglect of Georgia’s children through education, advocacy, and promoting evidence-based prevention strategies. With the support of more than 35 councils throughout the state, we envision a Georgia where all children and families thrive in safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments. PCA Georgia is housed at Georgia State University and is a vital unit of the Mark Chaffin Center for Healthy Development in the School of Public Health.

  • 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁-𝗼𝘂𝘁 Wow! We are putting the finishing touches on what promises to be a dynamic conference. Thank you to our generous sponsors for supporting the SOLD-OUT 2024 Georgia Conference on Child Abuse & Neglect.  We are delighted to welcome Dr. Charlyn Harper Browne, a senior fellow at the Center for the Study of Social Policy, to deliver the keynote address at the conference. Her presentation, Expanding our Understanding of Strengthening Families Protective Factors, will explain how the SFG framework emphasizes the need to consider conditions and circumstances across all levels of the social ecology—societal, community, relational, and individual. She will also present a workshop during the conference, Strengthening Families and the HOPE Framework. More about Dr. Charlyn Harper Browne In her role with the CSSP, Browne contributes to the research, theoretical, and training components of projects related to young children and their families. She has expertise in child and adolescent development, advancing racial and ethnic equity, project management, and developing resources designed to strengthen the knowledge base of practitioners and policymakers about promoting healthy development and well-being in children and families. Previously, she was a college and university administrator and professor in the psychology and counseling departments.
