A great tribute from our CEO to a great representative of the community!
We lost a truly special person this week with the passing of Dr. Vernus Swisher. For 14 years, Dr. Swisher served on PrimeWay's Board of Directors and dedicated himself to our credit union's vision of helping members enable their dreams. But his life's work extended far beyond our boardroom. Dr. Swisher understood struggle and perseverance in a way few others do. As a pastor, he counseled and guided those going through the darkest times. As the CEO of Career and Recovery Resources, he fought tirelessly to help people rebuild their lives after hitting rock bottom. In his beautiful soul was an unshakeable belief that every person deserves dignity, opportunity, and a supportive hand up when they need it most. He worked hand-in-hand with legislators to expand job training, affordable housing, mental health resources, consumer rights, financial freedom, and second chances. He lived with purpose - loving others with his whole heart. He had an insatiable drive to use his gifts to ease suffering and unlock human potential. His life was the embodiment of leading with courage, empathy, and boundless compassion. While our hearts ache at this profound loss, we find solace in celebrating Vern's immense legacy. He showed us that meaningful change happens when good people consistently, tirelessly, and wholeheartedly commit to being the light. I know Dr Swisher would want us to continue his work, so PrimeWay is donating $10,000 to Career and Recovery in Dr. Swisher's honor. May we all strive to live a life of compassion and generosity just as Dr. Swisher did every single day.
