  • 🌐 Enhancing the Online Presence of your Private Practice Growing your private physician practice often takes more than simple marketing and a website. Dr. Daniel Choi, MD, a spinal surgeon and private practitioner, writes for the AMA on how you can promote your private practice by building up your overall web presence. Choi emphasizes that building a strong online presence for your private practice involves careful consideration of all front-facing elements to give a great first impression to potential patients. This starts with a logo: you don't need to break the bank, but ensure that your logo stands out and fits with your practice's themes. The second step is photography: having high-quality photos of the people and places involved in your private practice can help boost the professionalism and sleekness of its web presence. Lastly, online content such as videos and infographics can provide useful information to patients. 💡 Need help running the business side of your private physician practice? • 📰 Proposed Physician Payment Reforms to Support Private Practices In light of recent cuts to Medicare, over 50 state medical societies and 76 other healthcare organizations have told congressional leaders how they should approach future legislation to maintain the sustainability of private physician practices. Their letter suggests 4 keys to physician payment reform, raising concerns on how the lack of reforms could affect providers. The main proposed reforms include: 1. Annual Inflationary Payment Updates: The group advocates that the MPPS includes a permanent annual payment update that measures inflation in physician practice costs. 2. Provider Reimbursement Stability: They support the passing of the Provider Reimbursement Stability Act, which would prevent the conversion factor by shifting more than 2.5%/year among other reforms. 3. Quality Payment Program: The group recommends replacing parts of the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System with a "Data-Driven Performance Payment System." 4. Support for Alternative Payment Models: They urge for legislation to be passed that extends incentive payments for transitioning to Advanced APMs. With these reforms, private physician practices can feel more financially secure and sustainable, protect patient care access, and ensure quality care is being delivered. 💡 Priority Practice Management can help relieve the administrative burden of running your own private physician practice. • 🧠 Behavioral Health in Private Physician Practices With a shortage of psychiatrists in the healthcare workforce, physicians running their own private practice may begin to worry that their patients' behavioral health needs are not being properly fulfilled. As there is a longstanding cultural stigma (and insurance) that separates physical health from mental health, patients often don't seek to address both at the same time. The American Medical Association created the Behavioral Health Integration Collaborative to seek ways to make typical healthcare settings more holistic and inclusive of all forms of health. Making behavioral health an integrated part of your private practice can help remove the stigma and meet every aspect of your patients' needs. 💡 Priority Practice Management can help relieve the administrative woes of your private physician practice so you can keep your attention on your patients.
