New MMWR describes a multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR TB) outbreak during Nov 2021-Nov 2022 in a state with few reported TB infections. Even in states with low occurrence, TB outbreaks can occur, and MDR TB can spread in the United States. Public health officials and health care providers should focus on prompt identification of MDR TB and treatment of latent TB infection.
