We’re thrilled to share another fantastic installation of PureSteel™ Ergonomic WorkStations, this time at VA Lebanon. Check out Dan Hughes proudly showcasing his inspired creation – the Hughes Seal & Stow Heat Sealer Shelf! Dan’s innovative idea has not only enhanced our workstations but also inspired many of our #SterileProcessing customers to rethink their setups during #HSPA. By optimizing tabletop space and keeping essential tools within arm’s reach, this addition significantly boosts productivity and streamlines #workflow. Huge thanks to Dan Hughes for his brilliant contribution. We had to name it after him!

The updates to ANSI/AAMI ST91:2021 created new challenges for many GI departments, requiring swift action to ensure compliance. Here are a few success stories Pure Processing has been a part of helping departments navigate these new challenges: 🏥 Missouri: Custom Sink Solutions for Tight Spaces ❌ Problem: Limited space for a new reprocessing sink due to window constraints. ✔️ Solution: Pure Processing designed a custom two-basin sink to fit the space while meeting ST91 requirements. 📈 Result: Achieved compliance with a space-efficient sink design. 🏥 Texas: Basin Size Compliance ❌ Problem: Newly purchased triple-basin sinks didn’t meet the ST91 size requirement. ✔️ Solution: Provided ST91-compliant sinks from existing inventory with short lead times. 📈 Result: Met basin size requirement and completed the project on time. 🏥 Illinois: Complete Compliance Overhaul ❌ Problem: Large hospital far from ST91:2021 compliance. ✔️ Solution: Installed height-adjustable reprocessing sinks exceeding size requirements and equipped with necessary tools. ➕ Additional Steps: Borescopes and mounted magnified task lights for visual inspection guidelines. 📈 Result: Achieved full ST91:2021 compliance with ergonomic benefits. Has your department faced new challenges due to ST91:2021? Share your story in the comments below 👇

Prep & Pack at The Surgery Center at 900 North Michigan Avenue’s #SterileProcessing department in Downtown Chicago has just completed a workstation renovation! The upgrade includes the installation of two custom-sized PureSteel™ Ergonomic Workstations, enhancing #compliance with ANSI/AAMI ST79 standards. Their new workstations are height-adjustable and made from nonporous materials. Their space feels more organized, with designated areas for #BlueWrap and streamlined workflow. During the design process, we ensured that the workstations would fit through the center’s elevators, making the installation smooth and hassle-free. We hope the team enjoys their upgraded setup!

📚 Does Your #SterileProcessing Department Need an Educator? Steven Adams, Central Sterile Manager at Sinai Hospital Lifebridge Health, shared insights on assessing the need for an #educator: 🔍 Who is currently serving as your educator? Is a nurse, peri-op educator, or manager filling in? While they may assist, their SPD-specific expertise might be lacking, potentially creating knowledge gaps. 🚨 Error reports & quality events: Are quality events reaching the OR? Issues like bioburden or missing items from trays could be signs that your team lacks essential training. 📋 Internal auditing & day-to-day activities: Regular internal audits by someone other than a manager are crucial for maintaining quality. If the same issues come up in safety huddles or in-services are infrequent, your team might not be receiving the training they need. 📝 Key questions to ask: • Who is currently addressing my department’s training & educational needs? • Are quality events rising? • Is there a high number of #OR complaints? • Are the same problems resurfacing in safety huddles? Educators can make a big impact on these challenges. Learn more by reading our collaborative article!
