Our Regional Growth Department works on coordinated strategies to attract and retain new businesses and talent and to build the Lansing Region into an across-the-board great place to live. This includes efforts such as: ⚙️ Fostering supplier diversification; 💰 Pursuing Foreign Direct Investments; 💵 Collaborating with partners to offer tax incentives to attract and expand projects; ⚕️ Investing in industry clusters such as MedTech, AgTech, and E-sports; 🏠 🍼 And improving options for attainable housing and high-quality child care. It's why our TREK Small Business Support Hub supported the inaugural Spartans for Startups internship program at Michigan State University – Burgess Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation. This program provided students with hands-on experience at a startup this summer. Last week, LEAP's President and CEO Bob Trezise joined local business, government, and environmental effort leaders at the Clean Energy REVolution tour in front of Lansing City Hall. Speakers — including Bob — shared about the environmental and economic impacts of federal EV investments in Michigan. Michigan led the nation in clean energy job creation last year, and recent expansions in charging infrastructure will make EV ownership more accessible in urban, suburban, and rural communities. We're celebrating #NationalWellnessMonth by spotlighting Clover Joy Collective, a Lansing-based, woman-and-BIPOC-owned retail shop and wellness center. On the retail side, you'll find hand-crafted jewelry, candles, crystals, and more. At the wellness center, you can rent meditation rooms or show up to community events. Hear from the owners about why creating a space where everyone feels like they belong and can explore their spirituality was important for them.
