🌿 Can Food Systems Weather the Climate Storm? 🌿 In the run up to London Climate Action Week, we hosted our ‘Ideas with Purpose’ event series on the topic of food systems and climate change. As our planet faces unprecedented environmental challenges, it’s crucial to explore how our food systems can adapt and help us thrive. Purpose’s Corina Shika Kwami, PhD, led a dynamic discussion with our panel Anna Taylor OBE, The Food Foundation, Trewin Restorick, Sizzle and Obie Pearl, Black Farmers Market CIC to dissect the current state and future of food systems. Ever seen a face mask floating in the ocean? The pandemic had an environmental impact too and over 2500 women including 6 Olympians united to combat the surge in plastic pollution. 🌊 In 2020, Purpose and the Liga das Mulheres pelo Oceano developed a dynamic digital campaign, empowering athletes to drive change and protect our seas. Together, they raised awareness and inspired a national movement against ocean pollution which spread across the world. This Olympic season we are revisiting moments from the Purpose archive, celebrating the power of athletes and the sporting world, to drive real impactive change. It’s Olympic season 🏃🏃♀️🏃♂️And at Purpose we are looking back on our work driving change throughout the sporting world. Back in 2021, the stage was set for the Tokyo Olympics. As many young athletes prepared for the defining moment of their careers the harsh truth was not far - to win, many endure abuse. As the world's eyes were on Japan, Purpose proudly partnered with Human Rights Watch to build a movement that changed sport at the root. #AthletesAgainstAbuse #TokyoOlympics #Throwback

Had the joy of representing Purpose's work and speaking about the power of storytelling and narrative building for climate action. Thank you, Sayesha Dogra, for the opportunity to be a panelist at The Climate Party® NCR edition, alongside fellow storytellers Milan George Jacob from CEEW and Mairu Gupta of Antkind, discussing ways to "make climate pop" (to borrow Mairu's phrase). Kudos to Ananya Sharma for her interactive session on how to use pop culture and memes to tell climate stories. Got to hear so many stories and came away feeling energised. Technology can unlock significant opportunities for social good. The use cases extend from climate monitoring and precision farming in agriculture to telemedicine and smart diagnostics in healthcare, from digital literacy and digital identity in skilling to resource allocation and documentation and surveillance of schemes for the marginalised, and so many more. As we reap the far-reaching benefits of new-age technology like AI, blockchain and others, considered thought and intervention needs to go towards its equitable distribution, easy access, and ethical usage. In sessions co-hosted by Google and Purpose, we will discuss how to harness the power of technology for a better tomorrow for all. It’s horizontal-ness affects every aspect of our life - economic, social, political & environmental…in a lot of ways that we may not even know yet. To make sense of this whirlwind of a challenge, the need for stories & narratives is imperative. 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐂𝐑 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝒇𝒕. 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠. Whether it is convincing the investors about your super technical climate solution or enabling public at large to make sense of the extreme events occurring across India or simply making your neighbour realize the deep trenches of consumerism they’re stuck in with all those daily Amazon packages waiting to be picked up at their door, 𝐚 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧! To help you learn the art of great storytelling (or narrative building) for climate problems & solutions, we’re bringing you three stalwarts who’ll guide you through real world case studies - 1/ Milan George Jacob, Communications Specialist Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW): articulating stories from the grassroots to shape public policy. He is one of the forces behind the documentary series, Faces of Climate Resilience, which is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar! 2/Mairu Gupta, Founder & CEO Antkind Collective: building brands & comms strategies for climate startups. He’s on a quest to make climate pop! 3/Namrata Kilpady (she/her), Campaign Director Purpose: crafting campaigns at the intersection of climate & society (gender justice, health and education). Her experience in broadcast journalism at the Times Network and Network18 Media & Investments Limited & that of leading campaigns at Change.org, brings together interesting flavours. 🌱✨ All of us are (& need to be) storytellers, irrespective of what work we do. Join in if you’re building at the crossroads of climate. As is customary, the learning session will be followed by a chance to discover climate solutionists in your city and experience climate games (stuff you’ve never experienced before). 🗓️ Saturday, July 27 🕰 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM 📍 Purpose India, Qutub Institutional Area, New Delhi Kindly note that this is a paid event with limited slots. Registration is mandatory. Secure your spot now at https://lu.ma/582yok8j A warm shoutout to our venue partner, Purpose for a green & cozy venue! Apurva Kedia Shruti Gauba
