“Our iBelong program is so much fun. In one school after we taught the program, a 5th grade student told the principal she wanted to become a special education teacher and help students with disabilities when she grew up!"

RAMP's 33rd Annual Changing Attitudes Breaking Barriers Luncheon on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Tebala Event Center will entertain and educate our guests about our mission to build an inclusive community that encourages individuals with disabilities to reach their full potential. Our luncheon speakers this year are mother-daughter duo, Pam and Colleen Maher. Pam Maher has written numerous chapters in life as a seasoned entrepreneur and community leader, founder of KMK Media Group, and has been deeply involved in non-profit work, including founding a Down syndrome support group and co-founding GiGi’s Playhouse Rockford. She has received numerous accolades for her contributions, including the Chamber’s Small Business of the Year Award. Pam's daughter, Colleen Maher, is writing her story as a trailblazer in her own right as the first known person with Down syndrome to work as a paraprofessional in a public school in Illinois. Colleen, who graduated from Judson University, exemplifies the impact of inclusive education and community support on an individual’s success. Together, they are dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities through advocacy and personal achievement. Pam and Colleen are a true example of how every story matters, every act of kindness counts. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/grP-Ta_S

Meet Stephen - an individual who was successfully moved out of the nursing home and into his own accessible space. He can now cook the food he loves! If you or someone you know could benefit from Community Reintegration services, contact our Transition Coordinator, Jane, at [email protected].

    • Image of Stephen, a white man with gray hair, wearing a tropical pattern shirt, white pants, and sitting in a wheelchair with one leg crossed over the other. "Stephen was in the nursing home for 6 months after a medical fall and surgery. Stephen's apartment was not accessible, so Stephen was not able to move back there. He needed to find new housing and needed personal assistance with household and personal belongings. He has since moved out and is enjoying his new apartment!"
