This summer holiday season, let's embrace the concept of Tourism Living Systems! 🌱 The paper "Transformative roles in tourism: adopting living systems' thinking for regenerative futures" by Loretta Bellato, Niki Frantzeskaki, Carlos Briceño F., Anna Pollock, Elke Dens, and Bill Reed re-conceptualizes destinations as interconnected ecosystems where tourism could help regenerate and nurture communities and environments. By viewing tourism as part of a larger living system, they offer an approach for our travels to give back more than they take. Travel responsibly and learn more about this concept. 🌍✨ https://lnkd.in/exgvccrH #regenerativetourism #systemsthinking #responsibletourism

How do we change where and how money flows throughout society? And if we can do that, can we change how we interact with the Earth through the economy? Leon Seefeld and Samantha Power (Dark Matter Labs, The BioFi Project and Buckminster Fuller Institute) have just published on Bioregional Financing Facilities which we highly recommend: “Bioregional Financing Facilities (BFFs) are a new layer in the global financial architecture that can drive the decentralisation of financial resource governance, the design of project portfolios for systemic change, and the transition to a regenerative economy at the bioregional scale. They have the potential to become the connective tissue between financial resources and on-the-ground regenerators.” #finance #systemicinvesting #bioregions #impactinvesting https://lnkd.in/dvzqW6pX
Systems Change & Finance • Bioregional Weaving & Regeneration • Regenerative Business Model Innovation
Excited and humbled to see this come to life. Finance can be a powerful catalyst for unlocking systemic change. Unfortunately though, it still often is a significant barrier and blocker instead. Sufficient quantities and qualities of financial flows are urgently needed to regenerate human and more-than-human life at the bioregional scale. We need to dream up new and evolve existing financial mechanisms to meet the demands of the transition that is underway and to empower communities on the ground to lead the work they know is necessary to build resilience and adaptation to a changing world as much as possible. While we don’t profess to know all the answers, Samantha Power and I [with the help of soo many others*] have made an effort to write up what #BioregionalFinancingFacilities could look like. We envision these facilities as »a new layer in the global financial architecture that can drive the decentralisation of financial resource governance, the design of project portfolios for systemic change, and the transition to a regenerative economy at the bioregional scale. They have the potential to become the connective tissue between financial resources and on-the-ground regenerators.« Some visionary bioregional regenerators are already piloting and implementing versions of what we are proposing as four templates in this book (the Bioregional Trust, the Bioregional Venture Studio, the Bioregional Investment Company, and the Bioregional Bank) and we highlight some of them in the case studies throughout the book. Yet, we would love to learn about even more examples and efforts in this direction. So if you are working on something or know of related initiatives, please do get in touch! If you have a need for novel financing mechanisms in your bioregion and would like someone to think along your design and implementation, do reach out as well! Both Dark Matter Labs and The BioFi Project (as part of the Buckminster Fuller Institute) are already collaborating with bioregional teams and are eager to share learnings with others. Let’s make bottom-up, regenerative bioregional financing a thing – together. You can download the full version of the book for free here: https://lnkd.in/e6rfeUtf ___ *Credits and acknowledgements to all contributors are listed on the second page of the book. A big THANK YOU to everyone who gifted their knowledge, ideas, critique, skill, creativity, and passion to this book project 🙏🏻
