🌟 Project Highlight: The Summer Olympics at Resolve 🌟 As the Summer Olympics and Paralympics kicked off in Paris this year, I had the opportunity to bring a little bit of that Olympic spirit to our workplace! Over three months, I planned and executed a series of "games and events" designed to foster community, collaboration, creativity, and, most importantly, JOY among our staff. What started as a casual conversation with our COO about which reality show our organization would relate to the most(lolll), quickly evolved into a full-blown workplace competition! We held events like: 🎯 Yard games (relay races, ring toss, throwing darts) 🍽️ A potluck to celebrate diverse culinary talents 🕵️♀️ A scavenger hunt that had everyone on their toes 🎨 A mural competition and art gallery exhibition showcasing hidden talents 👟 A steps competition to keep everyone moving Each team created its own brand identity and appointed a team leader, bringing out creativity and leadership skills in a fun, engaging way. One key takeaway for me: no matter how well you plan, some things remain out of your control. With summer plans and life events, not everyone could participate as planned. But we kept moving forward, and the outcome was more rewarding than I could have imagined. 🥳 It was an incredible experience to see our team come together, and I'm proud of what we accomplished. Derrick is a Philadelphia native who is passionate about shifting the news paradigm and connecting with people to ensure accurate and authentic storytelling. As Resolve’s Director of Community Engagement, Derrick builds relationships with grassroots organizations and individuals in Philadelphia, facilitating conversations and listening sessions, in order to better understand the information needs and narratives of the communities Resolve serves. Prior to Resolve, Derrick was a 2019 Reentry Think Media Justice Fellow, where he created and told stories about returning citizens that challenged stereotypes and illuminated hurdles to reentry. Derrick has several years of experience in criminal justice reform and public and motivational speaking. In addition to serving as a volunteer and mentor for several organizations, Derrick is also the Chair of the Professional Men’s Group with Menzfit, where he helps formerly incarcerated individuals by connecting them to resources.
