Last month, as part of division support for the Northern Virginia Community College Medical Education Campus, Reston Hospital Center leaders participated in their NVCC Family and Friends Fest for new students and alumni. We are proud of our partnership with NVCC and other area higher education institutions teaching the next generation of healthcare workers. It was a wonderful opportunity to share our organization’s priorities and employment opportunities with hundreds of NVCC alumni, students, community partners and NOVA enthusiasts there to celebrate the 20 years since the Medical Education Campus first opened its doors in 2003.

On Memorial Day, Reston Hospital Center honors U.S. service members who are fallen, missing, or imprisoned with the Missing Man Table. Thank you to our Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Engines 404 and 425 for leading our flag folding ceremony with Dr. Alice Tang, Chief Medical Officer, Reston Hospital Center. The symbolism of the Missing Man Table: The ROUND TABLE to show our everlasting concern for our missing men. The WHITE TABLECLOTH symbolizing purity of their motives when answering the call to serve. A single RED ROSE, displayed in a vase, reminds us of the lives of these Americans and their loved ones and friends who keep the faith while awaiting the return of missing service members. RED RIBBON symbolizes our continued determination to account for our missing. A SLICE OF LEMON reminds us of the bitter fate of the missing. A PINCH OF SALT symbolizes the tears shed by waiting families. A LIT CANDLE reflects our hope for their return, alive or dead. The INVERTED GLASS symbolizes their inability to share a toast. SIX PLACES are set representing the five armed services and the 6th is unclaimed symbolizing those who are missing and fallen.
