The Foodborne Outbreak Investigation Online Series is a new self-paced online training for public health professionals. This training aims to enhance skills in rapidly identifying, investigating, and controlling foodborne disease outbreaks. We recently joined the National Conference of State Legislatures at their Legislative Summit in Louisville, KY to discuss food safety and the Retail Food Safety Regulatory Association Collaborative with legislators and legislative staff. We discussed how foodborne outbreaks impact retail foods, from restaurants to grocery stores to school cafeterias and shared the Collaborative toolkit as part of the effort to encourage states to adopt more recent versions of the food code.

New research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention analyzed the root causes of foodborne illness outbreaks investigated by health departments across the country.
