🚨 The State of U.S. Primary Care 🚨 The numbers are in, and they're troubling: 🔸 36% more children and 21% more adults now lack a regular care provider. 🔸 Patients face nearly a 1-month wait to see a primary care clinician. 🔸 Our primary care workforce is dwindling due to burnout, retirements, and reduced hours. 🔸 📉 Life expectancy is declining, and access disparities are growing. This report, linked below, calls the state of primary care a "crisis." And we're tempted to agree. Telehealth is at its best when it is not only used for episodic care, but also for facilitating ongoing care relationships with PCPs. The U.S. is projected to face a shortage of up to 139,000 #physicians by 2033 according to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). If each physician carries a panel of 2000 patients, then 278 million Americans will lack access to physician care over the next decade and beyond. That’s close to the entire U.S. population.
