We’re thrilled to see even more communities gain access to flexible and efficient transportation options, connecting residents to essential services and the broader transit network. It’s been incredible to see the success of Calgary Transit On Demand in Livingston and Carrington over the past few years, and we’re looking forward to supporting its continued growth across the City of Calgary.
On August 18, 2024, Calgary Transit is launching On Demand transit service in four new zones in Calgary. The service is a great way for us to introduce transit sooner to growing communities that don’t yet have the population needed for traditional bus routes. It provides a much-needed connection to the broader transit network for Calgarians in these communities, and better access to nearby services. The areas that will see this new On Demand service are: · Ambleton in the northwest · Glacier Ridge and Sage Hill in the northwest · Ricardo Ranch, Seton, and Rangeview in the southeast · Pine Creek, Belmont, and Yorkville in the southwest We’ve had great success with our On Demand service in Livingston and Carrington over the past few years and are thrilled to expand it to even more Calgarians. Via was honored to have Meaghan Scanlon MP join us to announce the recent extension to the Translink On Demand Service on Australia's Gold Coast alongside Via's Australia Partnerships Manager Timothy Harding. Minister Scanlon has been a champion of this service for its ability to bring efficient, equitable and cost effective access to transport services to members of the community on the Gold Coast. The program's new intermodal features are seamlessly connecting passengers to public transport options beyond just the Gold Coast area. Gold Coasters love it, with almost 200,000 rides taken so far.
