#RecommendedRead: Insightful article written by Rise Up Leader Anshu Jha and her coworker at SEWA Delhi, Laxmi Bohora. The piece powerfully uncovers the harsh realities of 'chindi work'—the segregation of garment waste—carried out by women under exploitative conditions. Despite their essential contributions to the textile recycling industry, these women are often overlooked, leaving their labor undervalued and their needs unmet. This article serves as a crucial call to action to recognize their work and address the deep-rooted inequities they face. Thank you for shedding light on this topic, Anshu Jha! https://lnkd.in/eBM7y6Zg

I'm excited to share my first article with Laxmi Bohora, which has been published today on TheWire.in Our research highlights the contribution of women in waste segregation, a key step in the upcycling of textile waste. While the government emphasizes "Sustainability and Circularity in the Textile Value Chain to minimise the adverse effects" it overlooks the critical stage of textile waste sorting. Unfortunately, the significant contributions of women in this part of the supply chain remain unaddressed by policymakers. SEWA in Delhi | SEWA Bharat
